2024! Has it been good for you? We started the year with no winter or snow. The political winds blew strong and steady all year. And the summer weather . . . enough said about that! We all know the other shoe will drop soon and the snow will begin to fly.
At Lake Central Bank, we want to look at 2024 as more than the year, but as a number. A big number, but a number, nonetheless. You may be asking yourself why? What’s the big deal? In 2024 we used this number to challenge our employees to serve 2,024 volunteer hours.
Lake Central Bank is a community bank and has always encouraged our employees to be involved in the communities they live and work in. What better way to get involved by volunteering? We laid this out in front of them as a goal to volunteer and donate their time and talents. We asked for . . . and received a combined 2,024 volunteer hours from our employees in 2024.
Whether singing in church, coaching a youth sports team, serving on a non-profit board of directors, delivering Meals-on-Wheels or helping at the Free Store, our employees stepped up. We surpassed our goal of 2,024 Volunteer Hours in 2024. The goal was to get there by year end. We crossed that line in late November. And we are not done!
When you do something repeatedly, it becomes a habit. Volunteering a little makes you want to volunteer more; become even more involved and give back to your community. You touch others and make their lives better, even if just a tiny bit. Volunteering makes our communities a better place to live, raise a family and grow old in. We hope it snow-balls and everyone strives to do more and encourages others to help as well.
This little story is not about patting ourselves on the back. It is not for us to feel better about ourselves. This blog is shouting from the rooftops how proud we are to work and live in our communities and how great it is! We hope by reading this, it will nudge you to doing your own form of volunteering. As they say, “Many hands make lifting easy.”
